from Fr Satheesh
My Dear Parishioners,
This week we celebrate the fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time. In the Gospel, Jesus reminds us that God's wisdom is often revealed not to the proud or self-sufficient, but to those who approach Him with the trust and openness of a child. He praises the Father for revealing His truth to the humble, showing that faith is not about being the smartest or most knowledgeable, but about having a sincere and open heart.
Jesus then offers a comforting invitation to all who are tired, burdened, or struggling: "Come to me, and I will give you rest." These words remind us that we do not have to carry our worries, fears, and responsibilities alone. When life feels overwhelming, we can turn to Jesus for strength, guidance, and peace.
The words "I am gentle and humble of heart" reveal the loving nature of Jesus. He leads with kindness, patience, and compassion, setting an example for how we should treat others. By learning from Him and following His example of humility, we can grow closer to God and become more caring and understanding people.
This Gospel encourages us to trust in God, rely on His love, and find comfort in His presence. It reminds us that true peace comes not from avoiding difficulties, but from walking through them with Christ by our side.
This week we have the Peter’s Pence collection. The Peter's Pence Collection is a special annual collection in the Catholic Church that supports the charitable works and mission of Pope Leo XIV. The money collected is used to:
· Help people affected by war, poverty, natural disasters, and other emergencies around the world,
· support the Pope's charitable activities and humanitarian aid projects,
· and assist with some of the administrative needs of the Holy See and the work of the universal Church.
Catholics are invited to contribute as a sign of unity with the Pope and to help those most in need. In simple terms, Peter's Pence is a way for Catholics worldwide to support the Pope's mission of charity and care for the poor and suffering. Thank you for supporting the Peter's Pence Collection this weekend. We are grateful for your generosity and kindness, which make a real difference in the lives of those in need.
Please I remind our wonderful planned giving members to kindly take your planned giving envelopes with you when you leave the church after the Mass from the foyer.
I encourage you to join the Singing Up Country at St. Anthony’s on Sunday 5 July.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Very Rev Dr. David Ranson PP who was elected by the College of Consultors as the Administrator of the Diocese of Broken Bay. Let us keep Fr. David in our prayers.
As always, our priests are here for you and if you or someone you know would like a pastoral visit please do not hesitate to call the parish office.
God Bless you all.
