from Fr Satheesh

My Dear Parishioners,

As we celebrate the thirteenth Sunday in ordinary time, we are grateful for the time each Sunday to come together to share in the Eucharist. The common theme of this weekend’s readings is the witnessing mission given to Christ’s followers to love God and our brothers and sisters through hospitality, generosity, commitment in humble service, and the practice of corporal and spiritual works (acts) of mercy (charity). The readings also remind us of the sacrifice demanded of Jesus’ disciples and the suffering they will endure for their Faith when they bear witness to Jesus

This week’s Gospel can feel challenging at first hearing. Jesus speaks strongly about following Him above all else, carrying our cross, and losing our life in order to find it. Yet beneath these difficult words is a message of deep invitation and hope.

Jesus is not asking us to love our families less, rather, He is reminding us that when God is at the centre of our lives, every other relationship is strengthened and given deeper meaning. Discipleship calls us to trust Christ first and allow His love to shape the way we live, serve, and care for others.

Jesus also speaks about taking up our cross. Our crosses may not be dramatic, they can be the everyday challenges we carry, caring for family, facing illness, showing patience, forgiving others, remaining faithful when life feels uncertain, or continuing to choose kindness when it is difficult. Jesus assures us that when we walk with Him through these moments, we do not walk alone.

The Gospel concludes with a beautiful reminder that even the smallest acts of love matter. Offering “a cup of cold water” may seem insignificant, yet Jesus tells us that no act of kindness goes unnoticed. Every welcome, every gesture of generosity, every quiet act of service becomes an encounter with Christ Himself.

As a parish community, may we remember that holiness is often found not only in grand actions, but in simple daily faithfulness, welcoming others, carrying our crosses with hope, and sharing God’s love in ordinary ways.

We may pray like this every day, Lord, help us to follow You with generous hearts and recognise Your presence in each person we meet. Amen.

This week we celebrated our Biggest Morning Tea, with 50 people coming together to enjoy fellowship, food, fun, information about fitness, and friendship. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and thank the senior members of our parish community for all they contribute.

We look forward to offering more opportunities for our seniors to connect and enjoy time together. Please keep an eye on the bulletin for upcoming events.

We would also love to hear your ideas and suggestions for our senior ministry and future activities.

Our Pilgrimage to Croatia in September is fast approaching, and we are excited for this special opportunity to journey together in faith. There are still places available, and we would love for you to join us. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact the parish office.

On Monday 29 we celebrate the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, the Apostles and Friday 3 July we celebrate the feast of St. Thomas the apostle.

This weekend we have the Vinnies winter appeal, kindly support the Vinnies with the appeal.

Thank you all for your great support in the different ministries of our parish. If anyone would like to join any of our parish ministries please contact to the parish office.
