Dear Parishioners, The story of the rich man and Lazarus speaks to the silence of our hearts. It reminds us that what matters most in God’s eyes is not what we hold, but how we give; not what we own, but how we love. The rich man’s tragedy was not his wealth, but his blindness his inability to see Lazarus at his very gate, wanting mercy, longing to be noticed. How often do we, too, walk past the Lazarus who waits for us? Perhaps it is the lonely, the overlooked, the struggling soul beside us. The chasm that separated the rich man from Lazarus after death was first carved in life by indifference, by closed eyes, by a heart that would not open. The parable invites us to pause and to see. To ask for eyes that recognize the suffering around us. To ask for hearts that are moved with compassion. To ask for courage to cross the small chasms of daily neglect, so that no great gulf will ever separate us from the love of God and from one another.
