My Dear Parishioners, The Gospel passage on the 14th Sunday in Ordinary time captures a moment of profound commissioning. Jesus sends out seventy-two disciples, not just the twelve, reminding us that the mission of spreading God’s love is not reserved for a select few, but for all who follow Him. The passage shows the vulnerability of discipleship, yet also to the courage and faith required to carry peace into a world that may not always welcome it. Jesus instructs them to travel light, no purse, no sandals, no distractions. This radical dependence on God’s provision is a call to simplicity and trust. It challenges us to let go of our need for control and to rely on the hospitality and grace of others. Peace, in this reading context, is not just the absence of conflict but the presence of God’s wholeness and blessing. And if it’s not received, it returns to the giver.
