from Fr Satheesh

My Dear Parishioners,

The Gospel passage on the 14th Sunday in Ordinary time captures a moment of profound commissioning. Jesus sends out seventy-two disciples, not just the twelve, reminding us that the mission of spreading God’s love is not reserved for a select few, but for all who follow Him. The passage shows the vulnerability of discipleship, yet also to the courage and faith required to carry peace into a world that may not always welcome it.

Jesus instructs them to travel light, no purse, no sandals, no distractions. This radical dependence on God’s provision is a call to simplicity and trust. It challenges us to let go of our need for control and to rely on the hospitality and grace of others.

Peace, in this reading context, is not just the absence of conflict but the presence of God’s wholeness and blessing. And if it’s not received, it returns to the giver. What a beautiful reminder that our efforts to share peace are never wasted.

Finally, the disciples are told to heal the sick and proclaim that “the kingdom of God is very near.” This nearness isn’t just a future hope, it’s a present reality, breaking into the world through acts of compassion, healing, and hospitality.

This Sunday 6 July we celebrate The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday. It's a day that brings the Australian Catholic Church together to celebrate the gifts of Australia's First peoples to our Catholic Church. The theme for this year is 'Sent Forth in Strength and Hope'.

Thank you for your generous support with the Peter’s Pence Appeal. If you haven’t collected your Planned Giving Envelopes from the church could you please do so. If anyone missed your envelope please contact to the parish office and we will arrange it for you. I encourage the parishioners to consider prayerfully and support our parish by joining the plan giving programme which is very essential for the smooth running of the Parish.

We wish our School staff and students a wonderful and safe winter holidays. There are many wonderful events happening in our parish and I encourage you to read the bulletin and think about what events you may like to be involved in. Our parish is lucky to be so active with so many activities.
