from Fr Satheesh

Dear Parishioners,
In this week’s Gospel Jesus reminds us of what lies at the very heart of our Christian faith: love. When asked which commandment is the greatest, Jesus does not hesitate. We are called to love God with all our heart, soul and mind, and to love our neighbour as ourselves.

These two commandments are closely connected. Our love for God cannot be separated from the way we treat the people around us. We show our love for God through kindness, compassion, forgiveness, patience and generosity towards others. It is easy to say that we love God, but Jesus challenges us to put that love into action in the way we live each day.

Loving our neighbour is not always easy. There will be times when we disagree with others, when we are hurt, disappointed or challenged. Yet Jesus calls us to look beyond our differences and recognise the dignity and goodness in every person. Sometimes loving our neighbour means offering forgiveness; at other times it may mean simply being present for someone who is lonely, struggling or in need of encouragement.

Jesus also reminds us to love our neighbour as ourselves. This is an important reminder that we, too, are loved by God. We should not be too hard on ourselves or forget to show ourselves the same patience, compassion and forgiveness that we are called to offer others.

Love is not simply a feeling; it is a choice and a way of life. It can be found in the small things we do each day, a kind word, a smile, listening to someone who needs to talk, helping a neighbour, welcoming someone who feels alone, or choosing forgiveness rather than holding onto hurt.

Perhaps this week we can ask ourselves: How am I showing my love for God in the way I treat others? Is there someone who needs a little more kindness, patience or forgiveness from me?

May we remember that every act of genuine love brings us closer to God. May our lives reflect the love that Jesus teaches us, so that those we meet may experience something of God’s goodness and compassion through us.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for the Rosary each evening over the past 10 days. It was wonderful to see over 50 parishioners, each evening, coming together in prayer during this special month dedicated to the Holy Rosary.

I encourage everyone to continue praying the Rosary throughout October, whether with family, friends or quietly on your own. The Rosary is a beautiful way to spend time with Mary and draw closer to Jesus, bringing our hopes, worries and loved ones before God in prayer.

May Mary continue to guide and strengthen our parish community as we pray together in faith and hope.

I also thank the 40 parishioners who joined us for the Parish One Day Pilgrimage to the Franciscan Shrine of the Holy Innocents in Kellyville. It was a wonderful day in a beautiful setting filled with prayer and reflection. I thank Leonie Puckeridge and Susanne Bragge for organising such a lovely day.

There are a lot of events happening in our parish. I encourage you to look through out bulletin and feel welcome to join is for any or all of our parish events.

Please feel free to contact the parish office if your need anything

May God bless you,
Fr Satheesh Antony, OSH, PP.
