Reflections as we Journey Through Jubilee Year 2025

Over the coming weeks a series of brief articles & reflections will be included in the bulletin offering us, as Pilgrims of Hope, the opportunity to appreciate the significance of this Holy Year and actively share this time of joy, renewal and hope, both within and beyond our communities.

The time has come for a new Jubilee, when once more the Holy Door will be flung open to invite everyone to an intense experience of the love of God that awakens in hearts the sure hope of salvation in Christ……. Jubilee is a special year that is considered ‘sacred’… that is… set apart and reserved for the Lord.” Pope Francis

Pastoral message to the Clergy and Lay Faithful of the Diocese of Broken Bay

The Jubilee Year 2025 calls us to rediscover the centrality of Jesus Christ in our lives and to deepen our relationship with Him, not as a distant figure, but as the door through which we enter into the fullness of life. As the community of the Church in Broken Bay, our mission, then, is to open that door to all, inviting everyone into the embrace of Jesus, to experience His saving mercy and know His transformative love. This means that we have the unique opportunity, as “Pilgrims of Hope”, to discover anew our own roles as workers in Christ’s vineyard. Renewed by the grace of the Holy Year, we take up the challenge to evangelise with hope and vigour, offering a witness to all ends of the earth of the living Gospel.
As we prayer in the Jubilee Prayer:
“May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.”
We are called to carry the message of Jesus Christ …….
such dialogue is not a passive activity, but an active, missionary engagement with the world.

Bishop of Broken Bay
