from Fr Satheesh
My Dear Parishioners,
This weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of St Peter and St. Paul, apostles. They are the principal pillars of the church. The Gospel reading this week highlights the pivotal question Jesus poses to his disciples: "Who do you say I am?" While others may have seen him as a prophet or a revived figure from the past, Peter's inspired confession – "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" – marks a turning point. This declaration is not a human insight but a divine revelation, affirming Jesus' unique relationship with God and his identity. It underscores that true understanding of Christ comes not merely through human intellect, but through spiritual discernment gifted by the Father.
Furthermore, Jesus entrusts Peter with "the keys of the kingdom of heaven," granting him the authority to "bind and loose." This symbolism signifies a profound spiritual authority – to forgive sins, to teach, and to govern in a way that aligns with God's will. This authority, first given to Peter, is understood within Christian tradition as a delegated power to guide and lead the community of believers, facilitating access to God's grace and truth.
Ultimately, this Gospel invites us to ponder our own response to Jesus' question: "Who do you say I am?" Peter's courageous and divinely inspired answer serves as a model for our own faith, inviting us into a deeper relationship with the living God and recognizing the enduring presence and mission of His Church.
Last weekend we celebrated over 105 children celebrating their First Holy Communion. It was an occasion for the children and their families.
Thank you to all who assisted in making the day a special one for the children. My deep appreciation to Susanne Bragge, our Sacramental Coordinator. Let us continue to cherish the friendly and supportive atmosphere of our community.
This week we have the Peter’s Pence appeal and I am grateful to all of you for your generous support. Wishing you a lovely week ahead, and if you are new or visiting our parish, please don’t hesitate to come and say hello.
May God bless you all.
