from Fr Satheesh
Dear Parishioners,
As we celebrate the fourth Sunday of Easter, we read the passage in that presents a powerful image of trust, guidance, and true security. When Jesus describes himself as “the gate,” he is offering more than a metaphor, he is pointing to himself as the way to safety, belonging, and fullness of life. The sheep recognise the shepherd’s voice because there is a relationship built on familiarity and trust. It suggests that faith is not just about rules or obligation, but about learning to recognise and respond to a voice that calls with care and purpose.
This invites reflection on the “voices” we listen to in our own lives, whether they lead us toward growth, peace, and truth, or toward confusion and emptiness.
The idea of entering through the gate also speaks of choice. It suggests that fullness of life is offered, but we must actively choose to walk through that path. There is freedom in “going in and out,” yet also a sense of being grounded in something secure and nourishing.
Ultimately, this reading is a reminder that true fulfilment is not found in following every passing voice, but in recognising and trusting the one that leads with love, offering a life that is not just lived, but lived fully.
As we celebrate OLGC Feast Day, let us seek the intercession of our Blessed Mother, Our Lady of Good Counsel. This year, we are especially blessed to mark this occasion together with our school family. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this day so meaningful.
This week we welcome Fr Shiju Thomas OSH to our wonderful community. I know that we will all welcome him and support Fr Shiju as he begins his ministry with us from 29 April.
Please keep our three Deacons in your prayers as they are Ordained on Wednesday 29 April. Fr. Tan will celebrate his thanksgiving Mass at Chatswood Parish on Thursday 30 April at 10 am and you are welcomed to join the Mass there. We look forward to welcoming Fr Tan Nguyen next weekend (Sunday 3 May) as he celebrates the Mass of thanksgiving with our community, 10 am at OLGC. We look forward to welcoming his parents, aunty and uncle Fr. Andre Kim Thong. We hope you can join us for this special occasion.
Thank you all for farewelling Fr. Biju Mathew last Sunday. He had a safe flight back home. He expressed his gratitude for all of you and for your immense support while he was with us.
May God bless you all.
