from Fr Satheesh
Dear Parishioners,
As we celebrate the fifth Sunday in Lent, the story of the raising of Lazarus in the Gospel of John reveals both the deep humanity and divine power of Jesus Christ.
When Martha meets Jesus in her grief, she expresses both sorrow and faith. Jesus responds with one of the most powerful declarations in the Gospel: “I am the resurrection and the life.” This is not only a promise for the future resurrection but a truth for the present. In Jesus, life conquers death even now.
We also see Jesus moved deeply by the suffering of his friends. He shares in their sorrow before performing the miracle. This reminds us that God is not distant from our grief; He enters it with compassion.
The raising of Lazarus is a sign pointing to the greater victory that Jesus himself will accomplish. It invites each of us to hear his question personally: “Do you believe this?” Our faith in him brings freedom, hope, and new life, even amid loss and darkness.
As we enter the week before Holy week we take this time to truly prepare through prayer, fasting and giving. We encourage everyone to participate in the beautiful liturgies we have planned. Reconciliation is available for all on Wednesday 25th March at 7:30pm in the OLGC Church. All are welcome to help prepare for Easter in this special way.
As a parish we congratulate our children who received the sacraments of Reconciliation for the first time this week. They have worked with their parents to prepare for this sacrament and have received the graces that this sacrament brings. My deepest gratitude to Susanne Bragge and Leonie Puckeridge for preparing these children, and also to our teachers and wonderful Sacramental Team for your time and support.
We thank our wonderful youth group, Michaella Formosa, Aruna Ellis and all those who prepared and supported our Annual St Patrick’s Day Trivia night. It is a wonderful occasion of community fun and friendship. Thank you all for your support.
Wishing you all a fruitful Lent.
