from Fr Satheesh
My Dear Parishioners,
The readings for the 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time challenge us to choose freely and wisely to observe the laws given by a loving and caring God. He revealed His laws to His Chosen People through Moses and the prophets in the Old Testament, and through His own Son, Jesus, in the New Testament. For the Israelites,
This week the Gospel is an invitation to grow in love, sincerity, and inner freedom. Jesus gently leads us beyond simply following rules and encourages us to live with hearts that are honest, peaceful, and compassionate. He reminds us that true goodness begins within us — in our thoughts, intentions, and choices, where God quietly works to shape us into better people.
Rather than being a burden, these teachings are hopeful. They show that holiness is not about perfection, but about striving each day to be more loving, truthful, and kind. When our words are simple and sincere, when we choose forgiveness over anger, and when we act with purity of heart, we reflect God’s light in small but meaningful ways. This Gospel reassures us that real virtue is possible for everyone, and that living with integrity brings us closer to peace, joy, and the fullness of life God desires for us.
This week we begin our Lenten Season with Ash Wednesday. As we begin the Lenten season, we pray that our hearts are changed and this season becomes a time of renewal, reflection, and deeper closeness with God. May it be a journey where we grow in kindness, humility, and compassion, learning to let go of what weighs us down and embracing the grace that helps us become better people for one another.
As we celebrate Catechist Sunday this weekend, we congratulate and thank all our wonderful Catechist who share the love of God with the children in our state schools. May God continue to bless and guide our catechist always.
During this Lent I encourage you to partake in the Stations of the Cross either at St. Anthony’s at 5 pm on Thursdays or at OLGC at 7.30 pm on Fridays. As every year during Lent we do have 12 hours Adoration at OLGC. This year it is on coming Friday 20 February from 7.30 am to 7.30 pm. Please join to spend some quite moments with the Eucharistic Lord.
Bishop Anthony Randazzo shares with us the news that he will Ordain our three Deacons Shayne D’Cunha, Tân Nguyen, and Huy Tran to the Priesthood at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, Waitara on the evening of Wednesday 29 April 2026. We congratulate the Deacons and commit our prayer for them.
Wishing everyone a fruitful season of Lent.
