from Fr Satheesh
Dear Parishioners,
This weekend we begin the season of Advent. Advent is a season of waiting, but not a passive or impatient waiting. It is a time of hopeful expectation, a quiet preparation of the heart. As we journey toward Christmas, we are invited to make space for Christ, not only in our celebrations, but in our lives.
This season asks us to prepare room: in our homes through simplicity, in our relationships through kindness, and in our hearts through prayer. It is a waiting filled with light, guiding us to welcome Jesus with joy.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that the coming of the Son of Man will be sudden, just as the Flood came in the days of Noah. People were busy with ordinary things, eating, working, marrying. None of these were wrong, yet they were so absorbed in daily life that they failed to recognise God’s warning. The message is not about fear, but readiness. Jesus calls us to live every moment with faith, awareness, and purpose.
Staying awake does not mean losing sleep; it means living with a heart open to God’s presence in the ordinary. Our everyday choices, how we treat others, how we pray, how we love, prepare us to meet the Lord. We do not know the hour, but we can choose to be faithful now. When we live ready, trusting in God’s guidance, His coming is not a threat but a promise of love and fulfilment.
Lord, keep us awake to Your presence. Help us to live with hope, attentiveness, and a readiness that comes from loving You fully each day. Amen.
Thank you so much for all your generosity with supporting the Pastoral works appeal this month. The envelopes will be on the pews this weekend too, if you haven’t supported with this appeal would you be happy to consider in supporting as you could. Every little bit helps. We have collected $ 12008,70 until today.
Thank you for your patience as we introduce the Holy Eucharist under both kinds. It is an individual’s choice whether to take the Holy Body and Blood of Christ. My hearty congratulations to all our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion who were commissioned last weekend. Thank you for your immense support with this ministry in our parish.
The Diocesan Advent Reflection Booklet are at the church foyer for you to take home. I encourage you to support our parish by joining in the various ministries of our parish and by assisting financially in whatever way you could. If you would like to be involved in any of our wonderful ministries, please contact the parish office. Have a wonderful week.
