From Fr Satheesh
Dear Parishioners,
This week’s Gospel, Jesus’ cleansing of the Temple is a powerful reminder that true worship begins in the heart. The Temple was meant to be a place of prayer and reverence, but it had become filled with noise, greed, and distraction. Jesus’ actions show us his deep passion for what is sacred and his desire to restore right relationship between God and his people.
When Jesus speaks of “the temple of his body,” he points us to a deeper truth, that God’s presence is no longer confined to a building, but fully revealed in him. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus becomes the new and living Temple where heaven and earth meet.
This reading invites us to ask: what “markets” have crept into the temple of our own hearts? What needs to be cleared away so that God can truly dwell within us? May we allow Jesus to purify our hearts, so that our lives become places of prayer, truth, and love, temples worthy of his presence.
We congratulate the children who were Confirmed this weekend by Bishop Robert McGuckin. We ask God to continue to protect and guide these children and their families as they grow in their faith journey. I thank all who made the occasion such a special one for the children. My deep appreciation to Susanne Bragge for preparing these children for this sacrament.
My heartfelt thanks to the Parish’s Loss and Bereavement Committee and our wonderful musicians for organising the graveside blessings at the Frenchs Forest Cemetery and the All Souls’ Day Remembrance Mass. Your uplifting music and care made the day truly special.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this a memorable and moving occasion. I’ve received many beautiful words of appreciation from those who attended.
This weekend we start our Pastoral Works Broken Bay (PWBB) Appeal. During November the envelopes will be on the pews for you to contribute to assist our diocese’s pastoral works. Donations support essential community services such as Hospital Chaplaincy, religious education in public schools through the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD), and specific schools or centres for people with disabilities or the deaf community. Our parish target this year is $37,065. We thank you for your ongoing support and donations for this appeal.
I encourage you to support our parish by joining in the various ministries of our parish and by assisting financially in whatever way you could. If you would like to be involved in any of our wonderful ministries please contact the parish office. Have a wonderful week.
